During World War II he served in the navy and was part of the Navy College training program while he was in South Carolina.

Ziglar got married at 19 to Jean in 1946.

His work as a salesman was what really got him started in sales and motivational training and he began speaking as a trainer full time in 1979. He combines his spiritual values very highly in his talking.
